We're sorry, but all of our Oberammergau Passion Play 2010 offerings are now sold out. Both the extended multi-day tours and the shorter Passion Play + Neuschwanstein tours are fully booked, and all wait lists have been closed.
Our apologies for any disappointments, but demand for these tours far exceeded our ticket allotments for the play, which we cannot get increased.
The descriptive information below remains online for reference by guests who have confirmed reservations.
Our Passion Play 2010 tours, described in detail below and on related web pages are:
Bavarian Castles Tour + Oberammergau (10 days including travel)
Imperial Castles Tour + Oberammergau (11 days including travel)
The Oberammergau Passion Play was first performed in 1634 to honour the
village’s vow that it would perform a passion play depicting the life and death
of Jesus every ten years if it were spared the effects of the bubonic plague
then sweeping the region. Oberammergau was spared the worst effects of the
plague and has continued to honour its commitment throughout the centuries.
In the year 2000 Oberammergau presented its Passion Play for the 40th time.
The play is now performed repeatedly over the course of five months during the
last year of each decade, and involves over 2,000 performers, musicians, and
stage technicians, all residents of Oberammergau. The Passion Play
Theatre, with renovations completed in 1999, now accommodates an audience of
4,720 in covered seats.
The 2010 performances will begin on May 15 and end on October 3. On
performance days the 2010 Passion Play will be presented in two parts, with Part
1 running from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. and Part 2 from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m.

Oberammergau is also known as the home of a long tradition of woodcarving,
and the streets of the town are home to dozens of woodcarver shops.
Oberammergau is also famous for the "Lüftlmalerei," or frescoes, of traditional
Bavarian themes, fairy tales, or religious scenes that are found on many homes
and buildings.
The regular Bavarian Castles Tour and the
Christmas Markets Tour feature the town’s market
and Christmas shops.
The Bavarian Castles Tour (King Ludwig II's Castles and the Bavarian Lakes)
is our most popular castles tour.
Discover the wonderful castles of King Ludwig II and the beauty of Bavaria's lakes and
countryside. Tour inside Ludwig's castles (Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, and
Herrenchiemsee) and the family's Hohenschwangau Castle with local guides and take time
to explore on your own. Alternate the visits to castles with other excursions,
including a trip to the top of Mount Zugspitze, the floral grandeur of Mainau, the
Nymphenburg Palace in Munich, the Church in the Meadow, Oberammergau and other picturesque
towns and villages in the region. Plus see the Passion Play, in Category 1 seating.

Saturday
Our first transfer takes us to to the village of Hohenschwangau, site of both King Ludwig II's boyhood castle home and Neuschwanstein, the most famous castle he built himself.
Hohenschwangau Castle, where Ludwig grew up, is visible to one side of the village, but it's less impressive than our focus.
We take a bus ride up to Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge) to get a clear view of Neuschwanstein, sitting on a rock high atop the Poellat Gorge. Many of the most striking photos of the castle are taken from our vantage point on Mary's Bridge.
A short walk downhill takes us to the Neuschwanstein Castle for our inside guided tour with a local castle guide. You will also have some free time to take exterior pictures and admire the view of the surrounding countryside. The most lasting impressions will be of the wildly imaginative architectural design and the stunning elegance of the finished interiors.
We ride a horse-drawn carriage down from the castle to continue on our tour.
After free time for lunch we drive to Oberammergau for the Passion Play.
The first part of the Oberammergau Passion Play performance runs from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., the second from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. Your ticket category is “1”.
During the break enjoy a nice dinner in town.
After the performance a short ride back to Füssen for overnight.
Sunday
Enjoy your included breakfast.
After breakfast complimentary transfer to the Füssen train station, Munich train station, or Munich airport is available.
